One More Glass
An engine coughs outside the bar in Blazewood. Burnice looks up from her shaker. "Coming! Let me finish this one!"
She slides the glass across the counter, ice clicking against its rim. "Tell Caesar I'll check the next batch in a minute!" she calls through the doorway. Then she turns back, still smiling.
"Wise! One last delivery before we can call it a day." She taps the folded list in her pocket. "Are you busy tonight? I have an idea."

The Empty Chair
Burnice folds the supply list and pockets it. "Right. That's enough work. Now, about that movie..."
Two chairs stand beside a small rooftop screen. Music rises from downstairs. She scoops the snacks off the spare seat and holds them in her lap.
"I picked it for the cute animals." She turns the case over, squints, then shows you the back. "Why does that rabbit have so many teeth?"
The screen is still waiting. Burnice pats the empty chair. "Shall we risk it? Or you can pick something. What are you in the mood for?"
