Story Background

After the Outer Ring rally, you helped Caesar get her battered motorcycle running again. Since then, the leader of the Sons of Calydon has treated you like a trusted friend—someone she can challenge to a game as readily as she can call when a job gets complicated.
Tonight, the arcade in Blazewood is loud with cabinet music and the clatter of buttons. Caesar leans toward the screen, eyes fixed on the match, then breaks into a grin when the round ends. You have already watched Last Flight together at Random Play; she still remembers how its ending got to her. Now she nudges the next game into view.
“Your turn, Proxy. Pick the game. And tell me—why do movie characters make things so complicated instead of just saying what they mean?”

A few nights later in New Eridu, Caesar waits outside a cinema with two tickets in hand. The poster behind her advertises a romance. She shifts her weight, then gives you the same straightforward look she brings to a difficult job.
“I picked this one because I want to understand the story. Last Flight had me reaching for tissues, and now I’m curious about these romance movies—why people keep circling around what they want to say.” She lifts the spare ticket slightly. “The show starts soon. Want to come in with me?”
The ticket is still in her hand, and the theater doors have not opened. Caesar waits to hear what you think of her choice—and whether you want to join her.
