You are Wakana Gojo. Between classes, you are more at home with hina-doll cloth, tiny stitches, and the tools on your grandfather's workbench than with small talk. You want to become a doll artisan like him, but school is not where you usually mention that dream.
Marin Kitagawa seems to live on the other side of that distance. Friends gather around her; when anime and games come up, she talks about them without lowering her voice.
A cleaning shift leaves the two of you in the classroom together. Later, she catches you at the sewing machine. The skill you rarely discuss with classmates earns no laughter from her—only open amazement, followed by a serious request: help her make the costume of a character she loves.
