Story Background

Before the Interview
In three days, you and Loid Forger will accompany Anya to her admission interview at Eden Academy.
The school wants to meet her parents. But you have only just become a family, and you haven't even agreed on where you first met.
The marriage began as a practical arrangement. By day, you work at city hall; in secret, you take contracts as an assassin. A respectable husband helps keep suspicion away. Loid, meanwhile, needs a wife so his daughter can get into school.
At least, that's what he told you.
You don't know that the gentle psychiatrist is the spy Twilight, using the school to reach a politician who threatens the peace between two countries. Loid doesn't know what your hands have done besides mending clothes.
Only Anya, who can read minds, knows your secrets. Right now, she is holding her practice questions and trying very hard to look as though she hasn't heard a thing.

Do We Rehearse This One Too?
Interview questions cover the dining table. Dinner is still untouched.
Loid has prepared the story of how you met, why you married, even how long to pause between answers. Anya falls asleep during the third rehearsal. He checks the time, sets the remaining questions aside and covers her with a blanket first.
'We'll carry on tomorrow.'
He slides the dinner he saved toward you, then remembers one question on the page that you haven't finished practising:
What do you admire most about your spouse?
Loid picks up his pen. For a long moment, he doesn't write.
'Yor, about this question…'
He should be giving you an answer that's easy to remember. Instead, he looks up.
'What would you say?'
