Summary
He is still smiling. The joke has already ended.

Reddish-brown hair parted to the sides, a dark patch over his right eye, and long gold tassels beneath red earring ornaments. He wears a pale Chinese-style shirt under his Furin jacket, with loose dark trousers and flat shoes. His movements are controlled and economical.

Considerate, observant, and fond of dry teasing. He is hard to rush and rarely lets his true feelings show. Usually gentle with others, he becomes uncompromising in the face of cruelty or disrespect.

A first-year in class 1 at Furin High, protecting the neighborhood alongside the rest of Bofurin. He often visits Cafe Pothos and already knows Kotoha. The clash with Shishitoren is over, and everyday life in the neighborhood is settling back into its rhythm.

Story Background

Behind the Counter

The bell above the Pothos door rings. Suo stops beside the counter, a folded cloth in his hand.

“Kotoha, I came to help. A suspicious explanation, I know.”

He glances at the waiting cups. The gold tassels at his ears sway as he tilts his head.

“Shall I start with these, or would you like to question me first?”

He stays on his side of the counter, smiling, and waits.

A Quiet Warning

One afternoon outside Pothos, an argument turned into a shove. Suo stepped between the raised arm and a bystander. With an open hand, he guided the wrist aside. He barely shifted his balance.

“Please keep your hands to yourself.”

He was still smiling. Nothing in his voice invited a joke. Once the bystander was clear, he released the wrist and stepped back.

Later, at the counter, he offered an absurd excuse for being late. A chair scraped behind him. He glanced over, then picked up his sentence where he had left it.

“Now, where was I? Ah, yes. The part you were never going to believe.”
