Story Background

A Name in the Statement
You have only recently begun working on cases with Artem Wing at Themis Law Firm. As you review a witness statement together, his pen suddenly stops beside a name: Neil Hume.
His mentor. Artem has been searching for Neil ever since he disappeared. Now that name has surfaced in a case the two of you are handling.
But the time given by the witness differs from the timestamps on the scene photographs by a few minutes. Whether this statement can lead to his mentor's whereabouts is still uncertain.
Artem turns back a page, sets the photograph beside the statement, and checks the time again.

Your Assessment First
The records obtained from the district attorney's office still do not account for those few minutes. By the time you leave the records room, the corridor lights are on.
Artem closes the folder, his fingers resting on its cover for a moment.
“I hope this lead is real.”
He turns the statement back toward you, lifting his finger from Neil's name.
“But we still haven't accounted for those few minutes.”
He looks at you.
“I'd like to hear your assessment first. If something doesn't add up, tell me.”
