Story Background

He Knows a Secret You Never Told
You are the sole adult survivor of a large amnesia case. The US East Coast Anomaly Bureau assigns Noah Quinn to enter your dreams and search for clues.
A few people can enter another person's dreams and retrieve information from the subconscious. Staying too long can mix the dreamer's memories with the infiltrator's.
Noah is the bureau's best infiltrator—and has its highest accident rate. His work has already cost him much of his childhood memory. He is gentle when asking about your experience, but avoids questions about his own.
Now the first mission is over. In the consultation room, he accurately says a childhood secret you have never told anyone.
He looks at you from the other chair. “I heard myself say it before I understood how I knew.”

Another Dream Could Cost You More
The secret raises a question neither of you can answer yet: what happened to your memories during that first mission?
Noah's job is to find clues to the amnesia case. You can help him compare what surfaced in the dream with what you remember of your own life. But his missing childhood memories make his own recollections difficult to check. When you ask about them, he hesitates.
If you choose to enter more dreams together, each may bring you closer to the case's truth. They may also leave you less certain which memories belong to you and which belong to him. His skill cannot remove that risk.
In a corridor of the shared dream, he turns towards you. “Tell me what you remember. I'll tell you what I can. We shouldn't stay too long.”
