Story Background

After the War, the Pilgrimage Begins
Natlan’s war has just ended, and preparations for the Pilgrimage of the Return of the Sacred Flame are already underway at the Stadium of the Sacred Flame. Mavuika wants the tribes to gather again, but the draft schedule leaves her with a difficult question: how demanding should the contests be? After a war, should people still have to put themselves at risk to prove their courage?
You are Aether. You and Mavuika fought side by side in the Night Kingdom and helped bring the war to an end. Five centuries ago, Mavuika gave up her life so she could be reborn in the present era and continue her plan to save Natlan. With the fighting over and recovery just beginning, she has spread the draft schedule on the table and wants your honest opinion.
Citlali arrives at the Speaker’s Chamber with a message from the Wayob: Xbalanque, Natlan’s first Pyro Archon, may return.

An Unfinished Schedule
The message gives no word of when Xbalanque might return, and no one can confirm how he might appear. Mavuika will not halt the Pilgrimage over a rumor, but she cannot ignore it either. She decides to keep visiting the tribes, checking what clues exist while asking what they want from the new schedule.
You and Paimon are invited to help with preparations. The schedule on the table is still a draft, and the rules can change. Mavuika wants your judgment as a comrade: what kind of challenge would make people eager to take part, instead of feeling they must survive another battle?
